You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, but most of all, you’ll be truly inspired by these gutsy migrant pioneers who came to Australia after World War II.
Inspired by his father’s survival of WWII and his immigration to Australia, Simon Reich created this multi-media show featuring interviews with migrants played on big screens around the stage, including interviewee supplied photos.
Simon first created a podcast about his father who came through the Bonegilla migrant camp near Albury/Wodonga, receiving a W3 award in the USA, and also runner up for the Webby Award (International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences) in New York.
Over the past 7 years Simon has filmed interviews with Australian migrants spanning 1949-1961. In this live show he immerses you into the hardships endured by war ravaged migrants and their brave pursuit of a better life in Australia, including interviews with more than 20 migrants played on screen including interviewee supplied photos and videos. The show is supported by live music performed and composed by Simon Reich on piano with a string quartet.
Simon’s hope with this presentation is to show similarities between the recent arrivals of war-ravaged refugees and those that arrived here after WWII, highlighting the futility of war, as the recent Ukraine and Middle East conflicts have shown that nothing has been learnt since 1945.
