Wangaratta's community based choir OSTINATO will be hosting a "Sing your own Messiah" workshop with Graham Abbot on Saturday 12 October.

"Lift up your heads" so that "All we like sheep" can follow the wonderful conductor and Handel specialist, Graham Abbott, who has agreed to raise the baton in workshopping a selection of the choruses for us.  We will then perform together in the afternoon as a rather informal concert for ourselves.

Graham Abbott has been Conductor-in-Residence at the Elder Conservatorium of Music Adelaide, Musical Director of Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus, Associate Conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Musical Director of Melbourne Chorale, and in 1997 was Guest Chorus Master of the Chorus of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He has worked with all of Australia’s major orchestras, choirs and opera companies.  In April, 2022 he conducted in the inaugural Richard Gill Memorial Festival of Strings in Melbourne. In 2022 and 2023 he brought together for the Hobart Festival of Voices choral workshops where one year Handel's 'Coronation Anthems' were learned and performed and the other Rossini's 'Petite Messe'.

Oh "Hallelujah" that we will have the chance to sing the Hallelujah chorus in a great gathering of enthusiastic singers under Graham's superb direction.

This workshop is open to anyone to attend, the only pre-requisite is that you love singing whether under the shower or clothed in a car!

Get in early and secure your Early Bird Workshop ticket for $45 available until 31 July, price increases to $60 from 1 August.
Tickets include a copy of the choruses so that everyone will be singing from the same score.
